Nothing Special Happened

I often think about what happens when I make a million dollars. To answer the question in real truth, the same thing that always happens happens. Quite simply, nothing happens really. More appropriately, nothing special happens. As it pertains to me personally, nothing happens any differently that it always has. I am still me. I am a little older, a little smarter, a little wiser. I still get headaches, make sacrifices, forget birthdays. My car still suffers from flat tires, a needle nearing E, and requires preventative maintenance. The thing that changed the most really was the number in my bank account consistently. It didn’t change all at once and it never stayed the same.

While I was making a million dollars, I was able to pay my debts faster. I was able to contribute more to charities that were important to me.

My Emotional Changes

What happens after I make a million dollars is, of course, in direct relation to me and my own personal emotions. My happiness level changed a little for a moment after I discovered I made a million dollars, although it did not change in any different ways that it had already been.

It really all boils down to who you are. If you are a happy person overall, making your first million dollars might enhance that happiness a little bit , but it won’t change your happiness. If you’re depressed, making a million dollars might help you overcome depression for a short period of time, but you will revert right back to depression if you don’t use the experience as a positive means towards a relieving end. That’s because making a million dollars is not, in itself, an antidote for anything. Making a million dollars is more like taking a pain reliever to get rid of a headache. The headache you have right now might go away shortly after taking the medicine, but that doesn’t mean you become immune to headaches.

My Living Bank Account

I came to realize that my bank account was a living, breathing organism. I had a life of its own. It experienced times of expansion and contraction based on my actions and activities, based on my deposits and withdrawals. After seeing I made a million dollars, however, I wondered how it was possible to have made a million dollars, but my bank account did not reflect that fact or that million number. Even though my accounting records showed I made a million dollars, my bank account only had four figures and a decimal of change hanging behind it. Money and income was like food to it’s belly. Although the money itself didn’t have positive or negative attributes like sugars, salts and fats, the salt/fat/sugar contents were reflected in the amounts of money ingested and consumed as a result of my actions and uses.

There were occasions when I would think, if I made a million dollars, why was my piggy bank so skinny? Why was my piggy not needing to shop the Big and Tall sections of the clothing stores? Why did piggy have to drill more holes in its belt? Does making a million dollars make piggy lose weight?

The Time Factor

Time continues to move at its same pace in a forward motion. As a matter of fact, it seems I may have lost a lot of time in regards to where I could have spent more time in certain areas of my life. In addition, I made a lot of sacrifices. I missed a lot of opportunities to spend time with my loved ones.

What Happens After I Make a Million Dollars in Relation with People

It is possible some or many people may take notice and follow me hoping they, too, could discover my secret. Truth be told, however, there really is no secret. Hard work is mandatory; there is no way around that. If there is a secret, though, that secret rests permanently in perspective.

Nobody likes you or dislikes you any more or less. Some people may develop a secret jealousy or envy over you.

Revelations of What Happens After I Make a Million Dollars

Looking back, after I made $1,000,000, I came to realize a lot of things I could never have considered before making a million dollars. There were a lot of things that were revealed to me that I did not think about when I set out on my journey. There were even more things I did not think about during my pursuit for $1,000,000, far too many to list. One thing that was revealed to me was in regards to what actions I tool to make that million dollars. Everything I did was in direct relation to what I did with my time and what I did with my hands.

I reflected on the time it took to make a million dollars in relation to the tasks and work I put in. Specifically, the things I did often took a lot of time and effort to deliver to someone a finished result they were to pay me for. There was a lot of trust and risk involved. The results of my actions often took several hours and days and weeks to design and plan and implement a large amount of details from past experiences of education, research, trial and error. All that just for one person at a time. The final results were fulfilling to say the least, but the time and effort and skills I had to invest to get a small fragment of the million dollars I was working toward was certainly and often very exhausting.

Conclusion For the Moment

These are just a tiny few things that I have reflected on regarding what happens after I make a million dollars. Your experience will be entirely your own. Regardless, hard work is always required. It is the journey and the experiences that come along with it that are most important. Make the best of those experiences.
