- Director: The creative leader who visualizes the script, directing the performance of actors and organizing the crew to capture the vision on film or video.
- Producer: Oversees all aspects of production from a business and managerial standpoint, including financing, hiring key personnel, and ensuring the project stays on budget and schedule.
- Executive VP of Production: Senior executive responsible for overseeing the production operations of a studio or production company, making high-level decisions about projects and company direction.
- Executive Producer: Typically involved in the financial aspects of a production, they may not be present on set but play a key role in funding, and sometimes development and marketing.
- Editor: Responsible for assembling the raw footage into a coherent film, working closely with the director to achieve the desired narrative rhythm and pace.
- Production Manager: Handles the practical aspects of production, such as scheduling, logistics, and crew management, ensuring the production stays on course.
- DP (Director of Photography): The chief over the camera and light crews, responsible for the visual look of the film, translating the director's vision into cinematic reality.
- B Cam: The second camera unit, often used to capture alternate angles, cutaways, or simultaneous coverage of scenes.
- C Cam: The third camera unit, if used, provides additional coverage and is often used for specialty shots or to ensure multiple angles of complex scenes.
- AC (Assistant Camera): Assists the camera operator, responsible for equipment, focusing lenses, and sometimes operating a B or C camera.
- AUDIO: The audio team, led by the sound mixer, captures clear dialogue and ambient sounds on set, crucial for post-production.
- KEY GRIP: Heads the grip department, responsible for rigging, lighting setups, and camera movement equipment like dollies and cranes.
- GAFFER: Chief electrician, responsible for the design and execution of the lighting plan, working closely with the DP.
- SWING: A crew member who has cross-departmental skills, often swinging between grip and electric departments, assisting where needed.
- PRODUCTION SWING: Similar to swing, this person assists various departments with general tasks, often in entry-level positions.
- PRODUCTION ASSISTANT (PA): Performs a variety of support roles, from running errands to crowd control, and is often the entry point for many into the industry.
- DIT (Digital Imaging Technician): Manages digital assets, ensuring the integrity of the digital footage, and may also work on color correction or other on-set image management.
- HMU (Hair and Makeup): Responsible for the appearance of actors in terms of hairstyle and makeup, helping to maintain continuity throughout the production.
